finding balance

Don't you just love it when you come across a blog post that totally changes the way you think about things? Well, that just recently happened to me. Up until I read this post, I often found myself saying things like, "I can't find balance! If I am a good teacher, then I am a not so good mom, and if I am being a good mo, then I am not being a very great teacher" finding balance in life is hard no matter the circumstance. Even when I was at home with Sophie I often found myself having a difficult time balancing housework, church with a new baby.
The other day I was reading a blog about love and came across this article and it just spoke to me. It realized that rather than trying to balance things in all the wrong ways because something unexpected always tends to pop up. For example, I will wake up 20 minutes early so I can read my scriptures and then Sophie will need something from me just as I am walking out the door, therefore making me late and STRESSED  and my energy drained....and it is only 7:20 in the morning! The lady who wrote the article talked about balancing energy rather than things or time. So now when something unexpected comes up I think to myself hmmmm how much energy do I want to use on this? And rather than freaking out at something I TRY to handle things in a more graceful, energy efficient way:) haha! I really am trying and I think it is kind of working:)  Friday was my first full day and as I went throughout my day, I managed my energy very wisely and I even had energy left over after work to take Sophie to the pool, make a home made dinner, clean up dinner and do some laundry so I think it was pretty successful! Anyway, I just thought I would share that with you! Maybe it could help someone:)
love you guys!
